  • Welcome to CBM15

The Carbohydrate Bioengineering Meeting (CBM) was launched in 1995 and continued as a biennial conference that has travelled all over Europe and will now be organized in Ghent (Belgium) between 5 and 8 May 2024. CBM has witnessed the tremendous expansion of the field of glycosciences, which has become one of the main pillars of modern biotechnology. In a true interdisciplinary fashion, the conference focusses on both fundamental and applied aspects of carbohydrates and carbohydrate-active enzymes in fields as diverse as food/feed, pharma, cosmetics, biomaterials and the bioeconomy. More specifically, the following topics will be covered:

    • carbohydrate diversity and metabolism
    • carbohydrates in health and disease
    • omics technology and bioinformatics
    • enzyme mechanism and structure-function
    • enzyme discovery and engineering
    • applied biocatalysis and process development

In keeping with the previous editions, CBM15 will bring together glycoscientists from all over the world to share their latest findings and most exciting achievements in a friendly and warm atmosphere. Every session will be opened by an expert from academia or industry, followed by speakers selected from submitted abstracts. We especially encourage contributions from young researchers, who will also get an opportunity to pitch their poster via speed talks. Further interactions will be stimulated through social events, including a welcome reception and conference dinner (included in the registration).
